The lab facilities of UPAT’s Department of Pharmacy (PI: Dr. Georgios A. Spyroulias- full time, permanent professor) host currently 4 Post-Docs, 6 PhD students and 6 Master’ s students. The group has expertise on Conformational Dynamics and Functional studies. The beneficiary will provide the following expertise: 1. High-yield preparation of highly pure recombinant proteins and RNA oligos, labelled for bioNMR and biophysical studies, protocols for functional studies. Thorough biophysical characterization of produced biomolecules using a wide array of biophysical tools 2. Detailed NMR conformational dynamics studies of the native or modified enzymes, using advanced spectroscopic techniques to elucidate conformational and functional dynamics properties 3. Binding assays, providing thermodynamic parameters for the enzymes-gas and enzyme-ligand interaction. The Department of Agricultural Sciences at UPAT is a key hub for agricultural research and education, placing strong emphasis on plant-microbe interactions and plant disease management. The Laboratory of Systems Microbiology and Applied Genomics, under the leadership of Prof. George Tsiamis, plays a pivotal role in exploring microbial communities, focusing on plant symbiosis and their impact on plant health. The school leverages advanced research facilities to support innovative methods to enhance agricultural resilience and sustainability.

ROLE IN THE PROJECT

The Department of Pharmacy is responsible for the design, production and purification of the nanobodies. They also lead the nanobodies’ production in medium and large lab scale. The Department of Sustainable Agriculture is responsible for the generation of genetically transformed plants, cultivation, harvesting and processing processes for in planta nanobodies’ production.
